First Aid Course (Including CPR) - Sunshine Coast & Goulburn

With instruction and practical training in line with legal, workplace, and community considerations, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, and other Australian national peak clinical bodies, this first aid course teaches the skills and knowledge to recognise emergencies and provide immediate and effective first aid treatment to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury.

The course covers assessing the casualty, providing safety, accessing emergency services, and using resources to provide first aid, such as providing CPR and using a defibrillator, administering an autoinjector for anaphylaxis, administering asthma medication, assisting someone choking, using appropriate immobilization techniques for envenomation, fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, managing casualties with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock.

You will learn basic anatomy, physiology, and the differences between adults, children, and infants relating to CPR, the importance of the chain of survival, written and verbal reporting of incident details, reviewing incidents to improve own skills and response times, to recognise psychological impacts, and seeking help as required.

Allens Training Pty Ltd offers this course regularly in our Sunshine Coast training venue, in Birtinya.

 First Aid Training Questions

  • Indeed, the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course, does include training for CPR.

  • HLTAID011, or Provide First Aid, is a comprehensive first aid course applicable in various situations and settings. In contrast, HLTAID012, or Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting, is specifically tailored for those engaged in the education and care sector, honing in on the essential first aid skills to manage child and youth emergencies.

  • As per ARC guidelines, it's advised to renew your first aid qualifications every three years to keep them valid. This standard applies to most government-approved first aid training courses, including HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. However, the ARC suggests renewing the CPR component, HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, annually. Given that CPR training is often part of first aid training, including HLTAID011, you can opt to complete it separately, hence no need to repeat the entire first aid course each year.

  • The duration of a first aid course varies depending on the chosen delivery method:

Face-to-Face: The course requires a minimum of 7.5 hours of in-person instruction.

Blended Delivery: This includes at least 6 hours of in-person training, supplemented by 2 hours of self-guided learning prior to the in-person session.

Refresher Training: This requires at least 6 hours of in-person training, with the condition of presenting valid current certificates.

Online Training with In-person Assessment: This involves a minimum of 60 minutes of in-person assessment and 6 hours of self-guided learning to be completed before the in-person assessment.

  • We regularly schedule First Aid courses at our locations in Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast and in Goulburn, New South Wales.
