Now Offering First Aid and CPR Courses 100% Online

Over the last two years, Allens Training has been looking at new opportunities for students to complete the essential training they need for their employment. Early last year when the COVID pandemic started, we began offering a delivery mode that was predominantly online, and now we are offering some of our key First aid and CPR programs 100% online.

These courses are all completed online and involve comprehensive online learning covering training and theory assessment, followed by a practical assessment session via video conference. Allens Training use Zoom to conduct this session.

This new way of training allows you to obtain a nationally recognised statement of attainment, without having to leave the comfort of your home.

At this point in time, we are offering this training for the following courses:

How does 100% online courses work?

  4. Participate in the video conference practical session with the trainer and other participants. Links to access your video conference session are emailed to you approximately 1 week prior to the session. The video conferencing platform used will be Zoom.

  5. After successful completion of all course components, a nationally recognised statement of attainment is issued within 24 hours.

This First Aid Online training solution will benefit those people impacted by restrictions and stay-at-home orders and also learners who live in rural areas where first aid and CPR training is not readily available. This really is the perfect solution for anyone that needs to learn the lifesaving skills of first aid and CPR in the convenience and comfort of their own home.

It is important to note this delivery mode of training is not for everyone. It is most suited to course participants that have completed this type of training previously and are comfortable with online learning.

What do I need to know before booking this course?

It is important to consider this delivery mode may not be suited to all learners and their learning styles. Before booking into this course, you should consider:

  • Students must be able to complete their learning online. This involves having a camera attached to their computer (for video conference) along with reliable internet access. If you are using an iPad or tablet, it will need to have a suitable stand as you will not be able to hold it.

  • The online learning is self-directed and self-paced. Although there is student support available, this delivery mode is suited to learners that have done this type of training before.

  • Have you completed an online course before? If so, how did you do go and were there any challenges that may prevent you from completing this course online?

Prior to booking into a 100% Online First Aid or CPR course please read the FAQs.

About the video conference practical session….

As mentioned, this course has two components – online learning, followed by a video conference with a trainer.

Once the online learning component is completed, participants will attend a video conference session with the trainer and no more than 5 other course participants. It is important to note that the video conference practical session is not a training information session, and the trainer will be focusing on assessing your first aid practical skills.

There will certainly be time for the trainer to answer your questions so you have time to clarify topics at this session.

There is a video in the online learning content that provides details information about the skills that you will be required to demonstrate. You are encouraged to practice these skills with the training equipment that has been sent to you, prior to you video conference session.

To be 100% prepared for the video conference:

  • All online learning has been completed

  • Equipment has been received and manikin inflated

  • Email received with video conference links

  • Video and audio functionality tested

  • First aid practical skills outlined in the online learning have been practiced, ready to show the trainer.

It is important all participants are aware this is a public course, and you will be attending this session with other course participants who will see you via video conference. It is important that you dress appropriately as you would for a public course.

If you have any questions about this delivery mode, please get in touch with our customer service team on 1300 559 064.

We look forward to seeing you online!

What technology is needed for the video conference session?

To participate in the video conference session, you will require:

  • Reliable internet connection

  • A computer or laptop

  • Microphone, speakers, and camera for your computer (this can be built-in or a webcam)

If using an iPad or tablet it will need to have a suitable stand as you will not be able to hold it.

As the key requirement for your video conferencing session will be to complete practical tasks, it is essential the trainer can see you completing these tasks. The camera on your computer will need to be able to capture the area on the ground where you will perform these tasks.

To set up your room, please place your chair a distance away from the computer (approximately 2 meters). This will allow you to complete the practical tasks in front of your chair so the trainer can see.
