Undertake the CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry (100% Online)

This course applies to workers in the construction industry. It covers fundamental WHS requirements necessary to undertake work tasks within any sector in the construction industry.

It is now a mandatory requirement for all trainers who deliver the White Card Course (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) to hold this particular unit

Participants will learn to recognise workplace health and safety risks and hazards. It includes the identification of hazardous materials, including asbestos and crystalline silica-containing products, and compliance with legislated work safety practices. Please note, it does not cover the removal of asbestos, which is a licensed activity.

Through video evidence, students are required to demonstrate the performance of work in a safe manner through awareness of risks and work requirements, and the planning and performance of safe work practices with concern for personal safety and the safety of others.  You are also required to perform emergency first aid treatment of minor injuries.

Important Information Prior To Enrolment

  • The course is delivered 100% Online

    • Students must have access to a smart phone, tablet or other electronic device with voice-enabling capabilities to complete the practical components. Please note, students will also require access and have the physical capability

    • Students must have access to the following equipment to complete the online practical demonstration:

    • Personal protective equipment (PPE) eg High visibility reflective vest, hard hat and protective footwear

    • Simulated hazardous material such as simulated chemical spill, fuel can, glue, oil, paint can, silica or a solvent

    • One tool such as a ladder or a drill to demonstrate inspection techniques

    • Workplace first aid kit including (which must include infection control PPE (first aid gloves, face masks) and sterile dressing or an appropriate covering for a minor burn or a swab and sterile gauze/non-stick dressing for a minor bleed)

    • Self Paced - It is expected students may complete the course within 4.5 hours (depending on experience levels)

  • Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the section following.

  • There is no industry recommended renewal date for this unit of competency

What Happens At The Course?

  • Delivery of course information and learning activities in an online format

  • Complete three (3) simulated performance tasks:

    Complete a risk assessment and upload a video outlining the hazards identified and the control measures to be implemented

    Conduct a risk assessment and upload a video to demonstrate safe work practices

    Provide emergency first aid treatment for a minor injury

    Complete the following documentation:

    Two (2) Risk Assessment forms

    One (1) Incident Report form
