Course Description
The unit CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (QLD) – provides students with the essential skills and knowledge required to work safely on construction sites across Queensland. Known as the White Card course, this training is a legal requirement for anyone entering the construction industry, ensuring compliance with both national and Queensland-specific workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations.
Upon successful completion of CPCWHS1001, students will receive their White Card, which is mandatory for working on construction sites throughout Queensland. The knowledge and skills gained from this course prepare students to contribute to a safe and compliant construction environment, safeguarding themselves and their colleagues from potential risks.

Entry Requirements
An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need the following to be eligible for entry:
- Proof of age - must be 13 years or over.
- To successfully complete this course, students will need to demonstrate the following language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills during training and assessment:
- Learning: Follow instructions, identify hazards and ask questions to ensure safety procedures are understood.
- Reading: Read short safety signs, labels, and simple written information about workplace hazards.
- Writing: Fill out basic forms and write simple information.
- Oral communication: Listen to safety information and speak clearly to share ideas, report hazards, and ask for help, and respond to oral assessment questions.
- Numeracy: Understand simple numbers and measurements used in safety information.
- Digital Literacy: Able to use a mobile phone or basic device to read messages, follow online instructions, complete online forms or access learning resources.
- Valid working email address.
- Evidence of Identity:
- One (1) photographic ID issued by Queensland Department of Main Roads and Transport,
- Or, three (3) forms of ID from an Evidence of Identification Checklist (EOI) to be provided on enrolment.
- Physical capacity to demonstrate the correct donning and removal of PPE for assessment.
- Protective slip-resistant footwear/safety shoes and comfortable/practical clothing must be provided by the student and worn during the practical sessions and assessment.
This course MUST be delivered in Queensland only.
Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written, oral, and practical assessment tasks.

The units have the following recommended renewal periods:

Assessment Activities
Assessment of this unit consists of three assessment tasks:
Answering a series of multiple choice and short answer written questions.
Answering a series of short answer oral questions.
Observation of learners demonstrating the correct fitting of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- eye protection
- hearing protection
- hard hat
- high visibility retro reflective vest, shirt or jacket
