Students complete some online learning prior to the face to face training and assessment. All topics are covered in the face to face session along with all assessment elements. This delivery method is the most popular as it suits all learner types and strikes a balance between course duration and classroom-based learning.

Allens Training Pty Ltd is pleased to offer a range of course delivery modes which have been designed to provide flexibility to meet the differing needs of course participants and clients. Each delivery method has elements which will appeal to different student groups and importantly, it is not a one size fits all approach. You can consider what approach would suit best.
When booking into a course you can select the option using a delivery mode which best suites your requirements. Below is an outline of the different delivery modes.
Blended Training
Online Training with Face to Face Assessment
This delivery method is best suited to returning students who are confident in learning online. The knowledge content and theory assessment is delivered through our online learning system (Training Desk), before attending a short face to face practical assessment. It is essential that students have access to a reliable computer and internet access.
Face to Face Training
All elements of the training and assessment are delivered in the face to face setting. This is the longest duration of training and offers students the maximum opportunity to interact with the trainer delivering the information.
Refresher Training
Students must hold a current certificate in the course being delivered. This delivery method involves the same face to face component as blended training, however students do not need to complete pre-course work due to their existing skills and knowledge.
Online Training
Some of our courses are offered online. To ensure you know the specific requirements for the course, please read and understand the information found on the relevant course page of our website. For any of our online courses you will require a smart phone or camera attached to your computer or tablet, to video yourself completing the practical assessment requirements.
Do you only offer First Aid Training?
No, we offer a wide range of nationally recognised and non-accredited courses. Visit our courses page to explore all options.
Does my First Aid Certificate expire?
We often get asked whether CPR and First Aid certificates expire and what are the industry recommended renewal requirements.
A First Aid certificate doesn’t ‘expire’, but it does need to be refreshed at regular intervals to ensure the information is current and reflects best practice.
Being up to date with First Aid certifications isn’t just about ticking a box; it’s about ensuring you have the best possible knowledge and skills to save a life. At Allens Training we believe this is only possible if every home, workplace and public gathering has at least one person educated, equipped and prepared to provide First Aid.
REFRESHING YOUR FIRST AID CERTIFICATION
For people that specifically require first aid for the workplace, the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice provides the following guidance for workplace first aiders:
"First aiders should attend training on a regular basis to refresh their first aid knowledge and skills and to confirm their competence to provide first aid. Refresher training in CPR should be carried out annually and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years."
If you are a workplace first aider and it has been more than three years since you have renewed your certificate, you must complete the full Provide First Aid course again.
REFRESHING YOUR CPR CERTIFICATION
Because the process for Providing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) requires the use of specific equipment like a defibrillator, and because it is a skill that is not regularly practiced, the First Aid Code of Practice recommends the CPR qualification be renewed every year (annually).
PERSONAL FIRST AID CERTIFICATE
If you have done a First Aid Course for personal reasons instead of workplace obligations, you are not required by any type of regulations or codes of practice to update your course. However, to keep your knowledge and skills fresh, we do recommend the same renewal intervals as per the workplace requirements – 3 years for the full First Aid certificate and 12 months for CPR certification.
You can, of course, complete a First Aid course as often as you would like, there is no maximum number of courses you can complete in a set period of time.
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
Keeping your knowledge fresh and your First Aid and CPR skills current can undoubtedly save lives. This is why it is vital you keep your competency refreshed and current, as First Aid guidelines and techniques do change. At Allens Training, we are at the forefront of ensuring all of your knowledge and skills are up to date with the most recent changes.
HOW WILL YOU KNOW WHEN TO RENEW YOUR FIRST AID CERTIFICATE?
We understand it can be hard to keep track of when you last did your first aid or CPR training. To assist you with this, Allens Training try to make it as easy as possible for you to stay current by sending out your industry recommended renewal reminders 30 days before due.
How do I book First Aid or other courses?
To book a course at one of our public locations, visit our course calendar.
If you're a business or school seeking group training, please call us on 1300 559 064 or email clientsservices@allenstraining.com.au
Can I enrol and pay on the day?
No, all enrolments must be completed in advance to secure your spot. Payment is required during the enrolment process. We do not accept enrolments on the day of training. Be sure to allow yourself enough time to complete any required online pre-course work before attending.
What should I bring with me?
Please bring a phone or digital device to complete the in-course digital assessment—this applies to all delivery modes. Make sure you know your Training Desk password to log in and complete the assessment. Also feel free to bring drinks, snacks, and if you are completing a full day course, you can bring you lunch and place it in our fridge.
What should I wear to the training?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, as many courses involve practical activities, including getting down on the floor to perform CPR. For safety and comfort, avoid restrictive clothing or heels
Is parking available at your training venues?
Yes, free parking is available at all our training venues. Prior to your training, you will receive an email with specific details about the venue and parking arrangements. We recommend arriving with enough time to find a parking spot and suggest arriving at least 10 minutes early to your course.
When will my training appear on my USI transcript?
Allens Training submits data quarterly. It typically appears on your USI transcript within two months of submission.
Below is an example of quarterly data collection periods:
- Certificates issued before the end of March should show on your USI transcript by the end of May.
- Certificates issued before the end of June should show on your USI transcript by the end of August.
- Certificates issued before the end of September should show on your USI transcript by the end of November.
You can find more information about collection periods here.
What are my rights and responsibilities as a student?
Our Student Handbook contains information about student rights and responsibilities and provides student access to all relevant information as they embark on their learning experience. The student handbook will help you to make informed decisions and advise how to seek assistance when needed. To view the Student Handbook click here.
Why do I need to provide so much personal information?
This is a legal requirement for nationally recognised training. Your information is protected by our privacy policy and will not be used for marketing purposes. Read more in the Student Handbook
I cannot kneel on the floor, can I still obtain a CPR certificate?
The unit of competency requires that participants perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor. Without this being performed we cannot issue a certificate. The trainer will do everything they can to assist you, such as allowing extra time, providing a chair to assist getting up or down or providing the opportunity to complete the assessment in private however in order to issue the nationally recognised certificate they must see this task performed.
What if I am running late?
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your course start time. If you're late, we can' guarantee participation, and you will need to be rebooked. Contact us if you cannot attend, or are running late, and we’ll help with rebooking.
What if I can’t attend on the training day?
Please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule your booking. We will happily book you into another course free of charge. However, frequent cancellations may result in a fee. For more details, refer to the Cancellation Policy in our Student Handbook
Please note that cancellations on the day of the training or no-shows are not entitled to a refund or transfer to another course.
How do I access my Student Portal?
Got to: https://trainingdesk.com.au/login
If you forget your password, use the ‘Forgot Password’ link on the login page. If you encounter issues, call us on 1300 559 064 for help.
What happens if I don’t complete the pre-course work?
If your course requires pre-course work, it must be completed before attending the face-to- face session. Incomplete pre-course work may lead to you being unable to complete the practical tasks prevent certification.
What is the youngest age for a First Aid course?
There’s no minimum age, but we recommend the course for those aged 14 and above. Children under 14 should attend with a responsible adult.
How long until I receive my certificate?
Certificates are often issued on the same day as the training, and we do our best to issue them within 48 hours. If you need it sooner, let the trainer know, and we’ll try to expedite it.
My certificate has the wrong name, how do I fix it?
First, update your name on both the USI website and your Training Desk Student Portal. Once that's done, contact us, and we’ll reissue your certificate with the correct name. Please note that certificates must match the name registered on your USI.
How can I get a new copy of my certificate?
If you need a new copy of your certificate, you can download it from your Training Desk Student Portal. If you encounter any issues or need assistance, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to help.
Why do others have pre-course work, but I don’t?
Pre-course work is required if you don’t have a recent certificate. If your certificate is valid or recently expired, you may not need to complete pre-course work.
Do you offer support to complete this First Aid or CPR course?
When you enrol, you’ll have the chance to share any language, literacy, numeracy, or other support needs you may have. Our Student Support Officer is available for assistance at 1300 559 064.
