The unit PUAFER007 – Manage an Emergency Control Organisation – equips individuals with the skills and knowledge required to effectively manage the ongoing operations of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO). This unit is essential for professionals responsible for overseeing emergency preparedness and ensuring that emergency control teams are well-organised and ready to respond in facilities such as hospitals, schools, industrial sites, and large commercial buildings.

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to establish, implement, and maintain an ECO, ensuring that the organisation is properly structured, resourced, and trained to handle a wide range of emergencies. Training includes developing and reviewing emergency procedures, conducting regular drills and training sessions, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, and managing the availability and maintenance of emergency equipment. Participants will also learn to assess the performance of the ECO and implement improvements where necessary.

This unit is ideal for facility managers, safety officers, Chief Wardens, and those responsible for the overall management of emergency preparedness within a facility.

Manage an emergency control organisation

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 3 Hours

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • Physical capability to complete the practical demonstrations for the course, including:
    • Establish and maintain an emergency control organisation
    • Document and maintain a facility emergency plan
    • Develop, implement and review training in accordance with facility emergency plan
    • Ability to assess emergency and initiate action plans and procedures
    • Provide debriefing information and compile reports for the emergency planning committee and management

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate does not require renewal
