Course Description

HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – is a nationally recognised unit designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in emergency situations. This essential training teaches participants how to respond quickly and effectively when someone experiences cardiac arrest, ensuring that life-saving actions can be taken before professional medical assistance arrives. The unit covers all aspects of administering CPR, including assessing the situation, providing chest compressions, and delivering rescue breaths.

Participants will learn how to recognise the signs of a cardiac emergency, such as unresponsiveness or abnormal breathing, and apply the DRSABCD action plan to manage the situation safely. The course emphasises the practical application of CPR techniques on both adults and infants, as well as the correct use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
