For owners Paul and Rachel, this recognition represents more than success — it’s the reward for years of effort, sacrifice, and community service.

“Winning Partner of the Year means everything to us,” says Rachel. “As a family-owned business — and as veterans who have both served in the Australian Army — this award recognises the heart, effort, commitment, and determination that have shaped Top of the Range Training. It celebrates the early mornings, the late nights, and the constant balance of running a business while raising three young children.”

Their gratitude extends to the team that stands beside them every day. “Our trainers show up with professionalism, passion, and genuine care for every student. They deliver high-quality training and uphold our values. This award is as much theirs as it is ours.”

A Legacy Built on Trust

The story of Top of the Range Training began long before Paul and Rachel took the helm. Founders Kevin and Jill Distant established the business with an unwavering focus on quality training and community service — a reputation that still defines it today.

“I joined the team as a trainer in 2021 and was immediately struck by the pride and care poured into every aspect of the business,” Rachel recalls. “When Kev decided it was time to step back, he approached us — not to sell a business, but to hand over a legacy.”

After a long transition, Paul and Rachel officially became owners in December 2023. “Our success today started with Kev and Jill. We’re incredibly grateful for their trust and proud to carry their legacy forward.”

A Culture of Family, Quality, and Community

At the heart of Top of the Range Training is a simple but powerful philosophy: deliver high-quality training, create a positive experience for every student, and always put family first.

“Our operations coordinator, Kellie, has been with us for over eight years,” Rach shares. “She’s the heart of our operations — managing bookings, coordinating trainers, and keeping everything running smoothly. We truly wouldn’t be where we are without her and the rest of our incredible team.”

That teamwork and culture of care extend beyond the classroom. The business supports local events, charities, schools, sporting clubs, and community safety initiatives across the Darling Downs region. “We believe in giving back,” Rach says. “Community impact isn’t just part of what we do — it’s who we are.”

Staying Human While Growing Strong

As the business continues to grow, Top of the Range Training remains grounded in its values. The team stays approachable, listens to feedback, and maintains genuine relationships with students and clients.

“People know who they’re talking to,” Rach explains. “We respond quickly, offer practical solutions, and make training simple and stress-free. We also have to thank the Allens Training team — the Training Desk system and their support make it possible for us to focus on delivering quality training every time.”

Lessons in Excellence

When asked what advice she’d offer other partners, Rachel doesn’t hesitate:

“Deliver quality every single time. Invest in your people. Stay authentic to your values and take accountability when things don’t go perfectly — because that’s when you grow. Excellence comes from showing up with integrity, even on the hard days.”

Looking Ahead

Winning Partner of the Year has re-energised the team for the next chapter. With big goals set for 2026, they’re expanding their footprint across the Toowoomba and Darling Downs region, introducing new early education programs, and strengthening partnerships with local organisations.

“Our goal is simple,” Rachel says. “Continue delivering award-winning training, support our local community, and build a business — and future — our children can be proud of.”
