This unit covers key practices for minimising risks associated with hazardous substances, ensuring learners can protect themselves, others, and the environment from chemical-related hazards.
Students will learn how to safely transport chemicals, following legal requirements for packaging, labelling, and securing loads to prevent spills or accidents. The unit also focuses on proper storage techniques, including how to organise chemicals based on their classification, manage inventory, and maintain storage areas in line with safety protocols. Additionally, learners will gain an understanding of the documentation requirements for chemical handling, such as safety data sheets (SDS) and transport manifests, to ensure full regulatory compliance.
AHCCHM304 is highly relevant for individuals working in agriculture, horticulture, pest management, or land management, where the use of chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, and fertilisers is common. This unit is valuable for farm workers, equipment operators, or anyone responsible for managing chemical inventories or handling hazardous materials in their role.
