Course Description

The course set including units PUAFER005, PUAFER006, and PUAFER008 is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills required to act as fire wardens, chief wardens, and use fire extinguishers effectively during workplace emergencies. This comprehensive training is ideal for employees responsible for emergency management and fire safety in settings such as offices, warehouses, industrial sites, and retail environments.

This course set is ideal for employees designated as fire wardens, chief wardens, or anyone responsible for fire safety and emergency management in the workplace. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to act confidently in the event of an emergency, lead evacuations, and use fire extinguishers to manage small fires, ensuring a safe and organised response to workplace emergencies.

Additional Information

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 7 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour 15 Mins

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • An official form of photo identification (e.g., driver’s licence, passport, or student ID).
  • Protective slip resistant footwear/safety shoes and long pants must be provided by the student and worn during the practical sessions and assessment.  
  • Capability to complete the practical demonstrations for the course, including:
    • Physical capability to handle and use initial response equipment lift and carry some loads using equipment and handle chemical spill kit equipment 
    • Visual acuity to distinguish chemical labelling information, plant and pet identification, and manage outside environments under cold and warm conditions
    • Ability to hear or otherwise detect alarms, warnings, or instructions (or use approved alternative alerting methods)

Online learning: Students must have basic digital literacy skills to navigate online platforms, complete assessments, and access course materials. Before enrolment, students should assess their ability to engage in online learning. Support is available where required.

The online learning program can be found in the student portal. Students must have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and associated assessment tasks.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

PUAFER008 - Confine small emergencies in a facility - Not applicable

PUAFER006 - Lead an emergency control organisation - Not applicable

  • Scenario – Manage a chemical spill
  • Scenario – Put out a small paper/wood fire
  • Scenario - Operate as a warden in an emergency
  • Scenario – Lead as a chief warden in an emergency

Documentation:

  • Facility Emergency Equipment Fault Log
  • Emergency evacuation incident & debrief form

Theory assessment:

  • A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions
