The HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course is designed to provide participants with the essential skills to respond to life-threatening emergencies and provide immediate care until professional help arrives. Through this course, you will learn how to assess emergency situations, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on adults, children, and infants, and manage other medical emergencies such as choking, severe bleeding, and shock. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to assist in life-saving situations.

Upon completing HLTAID010, you will have the confidence to provide immediate care, stabilise casualties, and ensure their safety until further medical assistance arrives.

  • Face-to-Face: Minimum of 4 hours of contact time.
  • Blended: At least 3 hours of face-to-face contact.
  • Online with Face-to-Face Assessment: 35 minutes of face-to-face assessment after completing online theory.

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face: Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 16 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment: Face to Face contact time of at least 6 Hours

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.

Online study:  Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

  • Practical Assessment: Includes CPR on adults, children, and infants, using an AED, managing choking and bleeding, and putting a casualty in the recovery position.
  • Written Assessment: A series of multiple-choice questions to assess theoretical knowledge.

Upon successful completion of this first aid course Dandenong businesses trust, you'll receive a nationally recognized certificate, valid for 36 months. Renewal is recommended every 3 years.
