Course Description

The "First Aid, WHS & LVR" course set, comprising units HLTAID011, UEECD0007, and UETDRMP007, is designed for individuals working in high-risk industries such as electrical, construction, and manufacturing. This course provides essential first aid training, a solid understanding of workplace health and safety (WHS) protocols, and the skills to perform low voltage rescues (LVR). It ensures that participants are well-prepared to handle emergencies and maintain a safe work environment in compliance with industry standards.

Together, these units provide comprehensive training in first aid, workplace safety, and electrical rescue, making this course set ideal for professionals in high-risk fields. The skills gained ensure compliance with WHS regulations and Safe Work Australia standards, enhancing safety and emergency preparedness in any work environment.

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 14 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 2 Hours 30 Mins

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including removing an electric shock victim from a simulated live electrical situation, CPR and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins
  • Physical fitness to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including manual handling in the rescue of a mock casualty
  • Capacity to demonstrate work at heights
  • Sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course
  • Protective footwear/safety shoes and comfortable/practical clothing must be provided by the student and worn during the practical sessions

Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate, CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions. Participants will be required to demonstrate rescue breathing techniques on manikins. Participants will not have the opportunity to request an exemption from providing rescue breaths if they wish to gain a competent result in the Unit of Competency and/or qualification.

Online study options: The online learning program can be found in the student portal. Students must have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet, or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and practical assessment.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

The units have the following recommended renewal periods:

HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid - 36 months

HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation - 12 months

HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support - 36 months

Pre-Requisite Evidence for LV Rescue (UETDRMP007) - Including: Electrical Licence, OR Certificate for UEECD0007/ UETDREL006, OR ESI/ Electrotechnology Qualification - Not applicable

UEECD0007 - Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace - 0 months

UETDRMP007 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel - 12 months

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

  • Adult CPR (including the use of an AED)
  • Infant CPR
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Asthma
  • Choking
  • Non-life-threatening-bleeding, minor wound cleaning & shock
  • Nosebleed
  • Fractures & dislocations
  • Sprains and strains
  • Envenomation
  • Conduct electrical work using a ladder (uneven surface)
  • Conduct electrical work at height (access via ladder)
  • Inspection and placement of rescue equipment and performing a rescue
  • Low voltage panel rescue
  • Complete Risk Assessment
  • Complete an Incident Report

Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
