Course Description

The Non-Accredited Urinary Catheters course provides essential training for individuals who assist clients with the care and management of urinary catheters in healthcare settings such as aged care, disability services, or home care environments. This course is designed for support workers, carers, and healthcare aides responsible for maintaining catheter hygiene and ensuring the comfort and well-being of clients with catheterisation needs.

Throughout the course, participants will learn the fundamentals of urinary catheter care, including the proper techniques for catheter cleaning, monitoring for signs of infection, and ensuring that the catheter is functioning correctly. The training covers both indwelling (Foley) and intermittent catheters, along with best practices for maintaining urinary health and preventing complications such as blockages or urinary tract infections (UTIs). Participants will also be taught how to follow individualised care plans, maintain accurate records, and ensure client dignity and comfort during catheter care.

This course is ideal for carers, support staff, and family caregivers involved in managing urinary catheters, who want to enhance their knowledge and skills without the need for formal accreditation.

Upon completing the Non-Accredited Urinary Catheters course, participants will have the confidence and practical skills to assist with urinary catheter care safely and effectively, promoting client comfort and preventing complications. This training is a valuable asset for those providing direct catheter care in non-accredited care roles.
