This course can be delivered/assessed fully online, in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • An official form of photo identification (e.g., driver’s licence, passport, or student ID).

To complete this course, students will need to demonstrate the following language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills during training and assessment:

  • Learning: Learn from experience and stay calm when talking to people who are upset, confused, or in need of support.
  • Reading: Read messages or information that help me understand someone’s health needs or emotional state.
  • Writing: Write clear notes or messages to explain what happened or how someone was feeling.
  • Oral communication: Speak clearly, listen carefully, and adjust how I communicate depending on the situation and who I’m talking to.
  • Numeracy: Use basic numbers if needed, like telling time, recording steps, or tracking changes in someone’s condition.
  • Digital Literacy: Able to use a mobile phone or basic device to read messages, follow online instructions, complete online forms or access learning resources

Online learning: Students must have basic digital literacy skills to navigate online platforms, complete assessments, and access course materials. Before enrolment, students should assess their ability to engage in online learning. Support is available where required. The online learning program can be found in the student portal. Students must have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and associated assessment tasks.

Delivery mode: Online with face-to-face The online pre-course learning and theory assessment is expected to take approximately 5 hours to complete. These timeframes are estimates. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the online component in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and theory questions

The following additional requirements will apply to those studying fully online:

  • Students are required to upload four (4) videos of themselves demonstrating their communication skills by briefly explaining how they would respond to complex communications scenarios provided

  • Proficient verbal and written English language skills to demonstrate communication skills in complex situations and to complete a written incident report form.

  • Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

    Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 7 Hours 
    Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 2 Hours

This course can also be completed fully online in a self-paced approach. 

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the Assessment Activities section.

No industry recommended renewal is identified on the certificate, employers are recommended to consult with stakeholders to identify appropriate training periods.
