Course Description
Sharps and infectious waste can present significant health and safety risks in many workplaces. The Non-Accredited Sharps and Infectious Waste Awareness course provides participants with practical knowledge to help reduce the risk of injury, contamination, and the transmission of infectious diseases. Through a series of engaging presentations, videos, and assessment activities, students will develop an understanding of workplace responsibilities, infection control principles, risk management strategies, and safe work practices.
This fully online course explores the different types of sharps and infectious waste that may be encountered in the workplace, how diseases can be transmitted, appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe disposal methods, spill management procedures, and actions to take following an exposure incident.
Designed to support workplace health and safety initiatives, this course helps individuals understand their role in maintaining a safe working environment and contributes to meeting workplace duty of care obligations under Australian health and safety legislation.
