Course Description

The unit SISSSPT001 – Implement Sports Injury Prevention and Management Strategies – equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to develop and apply effective strategies for preventing and managing sports injuries. This unit is essential for sports coaches, trainers, and support staff responsible for maintaining athlete safety and promoting long-term health and performance.

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to assess and identify injury risks specific to different sports, implement injury prevention techniques such as warm-ups, stretching, and conditioning, and monitor athlete workload to reduce injury risk. The training also covers basic injury management, including immediate care for common sports injuries, applying first aid, and understanding when to refer athletes to medical professionals for further treatment. Additionally, participants will learn how to educate athletes on injury prevention practices and support their recovery and rehabilitation processes.

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 6 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 2 Hours

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills
  • Wearing appropriate attire to allow demonstration of different taping techniques

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate does not require renewal
