Course Description
This non-accredited course equips participants with the basic knowledge and skills needed to understand the concepts of mental health, recognise, respond to, and provide support to young people who may be experiencing mental health challenges.
Today’s youth face a range of pressures and challenges, including academic demands, social expectations, family dynamics, and exposure to trauma or adverse experiences. This course aims to empower participants to better understand these challenges and develop the confidence to provide meaningful support to young people in need.
This course is intended to provide participants with the following outcomes:
- Empowering participants with the knowledge and skills to understand youth mental health concepts and recognise the physical, behavioural, and psychological signs indicating a change in a young person’s mental wellbeing.
- Address immediate safety concerns for a young person in the aftermath of a distressing or traumatic incident.
- Know how to respond to emerging mental health crises, ensuring the safety of the young person and understanding where to seek immediate help or professional support.
- Develop an understanding of the unique challenges youth face and how to provide appropriate support to help them navigate these pressures while promoting resilience and wellbeing.

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.
Course Durations
Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.
- Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 2 Hours
- Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour
Entry Requirements
Online study options: students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online studies.
Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
