Celebrating Excellence: SALT Training Academy Wins Local Impact Award

Salt Training

SALT Training Academy, led by Brent Lethbridge, has been recognised with the Local Impact Award in the Allens Training Partner Awards — a fitting acknowledgment of the academy’s powerful contribution to the Port Macquarie region.

For Brent, this award reflects far more than business success — it represents service, heart, and connection.

“Our name SALT stands for Safety And Lifesaving Techniques,” Brent explains. “Giving people the confidence and practical skills to protect the gift of life for themselves and their loved ones is at the heart of our vision. Being recognised in our first year of operation is such an encouragement to my family and me. It means that the hard work and focus we’ve placed on personalised service and high-quality education is truly making an impact in our community.”

Building Confidence and Capacity Locally

Before SALT Training Academy opened, local options for first aid and safety training in Port Macquarie were limited. Brent saw an opportunity to provide local training by locals for locals — ensuring that high-quality, experience-backed education was accessible to everyone.

With small group sizes, flexible delivery, and regular class availability, SALT has quickly become a trusted name across multiple industries, empowering individuals and businesses alike with confidence and essential lifesaving skills.

Real Stories, Real Impact

Brent recalls two standout examples of SALT’s impact. The first was delivering the academy’s inaugural Mental Health First Aid course to a local NDIS provider. “The feedback was incredible,” he shares. “Participants felt genuinely understood and supported — equipped with tools and strategies to continue caring for others with confidence and resilience.”

The second highlight came from working closely with individuals who required additional learning support. Through one-on-one assistance and extra care, SALT helped these learners successfully complete their qualifications — opening new doors for employment and community involvement.

Strengthening Local Connections

“We’re locals ourselves, so we understand what our community needs,” Brent says. “Living in a regional area means our clients are often our neighbours, friends, or fellow volunteers — that’s why we always go above and beyond.”

His advice to other partners: Lead with purpose, not promotion. “When your goal is to help people, not just grow your business, the community will see that. Be genuine, follow through, and the relationships — and results — will follow.”
