Course Description

The unit CHCPRT025 – Identify and Report Children and Young People at Risk – equips individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect, or harm in children and young people. This unit is crucial for professionals working in sectors such as education, childcare, healthcare, and community services, where early detection and intervention can make a significant difference in the well-being of vulnerable children.

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to recognise indicators of physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect. The training covers legal and ethical responsibilities in reporting suspected harm, following workplace policies, and adhering to relevant state and federal legislation. Participants will also develop the ability to document and report concerns accurately, communicate with relevant authorities, and support children and young people while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.

This unit is ideal for educators, childcare workers, healthcare professionals, and community service workers who have a duty of care for children and young people and are required to act upon suspicions of risk or harm.

Upon completing CHCPRT025, participants will be equipped to confidently identify, respond to, and report situations where children or young people may be at risk, ensuring they fulfil their legal and ethical obligations to protect vulnerable individuals. This training is vital for safeguarding children and young people and contributing to their safety and well-being.
