Course Description
ICTTCR203 Use safe rigging practices to climb and perform rescues on telecommunications network structures is a nationally recognised unit designed for individuals working or intending to work in the telecommunications industry, specifically in roles that involve climbing network structures and performing rescues. This unit equips learners with the essential skills and knowledge to conduct rigging activities safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with current industry regulations and workplace health and safety standards. Whether climbing towers, poles, or other telecommunications structures, students will learn the importance of hazard identification, risk assessment, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The course also includes essential knowledge on managing radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic radiation (EMR) hazards.
Throughout the training, participants will develop practical expertise in preparing for climbs, using fall arrest systems, and executing rescue procedures for themselves or others in emergency scenarios. The unit also covers communication protocols and the importance of teamwork during climbing and rescue operations. Emphasis is placed on real-world applications to ensure that learners can confidently apply their skills in high-risk environments, contributing to a safer and more efficient workplace.
This unit is ideal for telecommunications technicians, riggers, and anyone entering roles that require elevated work in network environments. Completing ICTTCR203 Use safe rigging practices to climb and perform rescues on telecommunications network structures demonstrates a commitment to safety and professional standards, making it highly valued by employers and often a requirement for work in regulated sectors.
