Course Description
The unit CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (NT) – is a fundamental course designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge required to work safely on construction sites in the Northern Territory. Known as the White Card course, this training is a legal requirement for anyone entering the construction industry, ensuring compliance with both national and NT-specific workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations.
Upon successful completion of CPCWHS1001, students will receive the White Card, a mandatory qualification for working on construction sites across the Northern Territory. This training ensures workers are prepared to contribute to a safe and compliant construction environment, protecting themselves and others from potential hazards.

Course Durations
Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.
Entry Requirements
An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:
- Proof of age must be 14 years or over.
- Valid working email address.
- Three (3) current and valid forms of identification (including at least one that contains your name and date of birth). You will be provided with an Evidence of Identification Checklist (EOI) to complete on enrolment.
- Physical capacity to demonstrate the correct donning and removing of PPE for assessment.
- To successfully complete this course, students will need to demonstrate the following language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills during training and assessment:
o Learning: Follow instructions, identify hazards and ask questions to ensure safety procedures are understood.
o Reading: Read short safety signs, labels, and simple written information about workplace hazards.
o Writing: Fill out basic forms and write simple information.
o Oral communication: Listen to safety information and speak clearly to share ideas, report hazards, ask for help, and respond to oral assessment questions.
o Numeracy: Understand simple numbers and measurements used in safety information.
o Digital Literacy: Able to use a mobile phone or basic device to read messages, follow online instructions, complete online forms or access learning resources
This course MUST be delivered in Northern Territory only.
Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written, oral, and practical assessment tasks.

Assessment Activities
Assessment of this unit consists of three assessment tasks:
Answering a series of multiple choice and short answer written questions.
Answering a series of short answer oral questions.
Observation of learners demonstrating the correct fitting of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- eye protection
- hearing protection
- hard hat
- high visibility retro reflective vest
