Course Description

The "First Aid / LVR" course set, covering the units HLTAID011 and UETDRRF004, is designed for individuals working in environments where providing first aid and responding to low-voltage electrical incidents are critical. This training equips participants with the skills and knowledge to manage emergency situations, perform essential first aid, and respond to low-voltage electrical risks, making it ideal for those working in trades, construction, or electrical industries.

Together, these units provide a comprehensive skill set for anyone required to deliver first aid and respond to electrical incidents, ensuring a safer workplace and the ability to act quickly in emergencies. The training aligns with regulatory requirements, including the standards outlined by Safe Work Australia, making it a valuable certification for anyone in high-risk industries.

Units Delivered

The following units will be included in your certificate:

HLTAID009

Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

HLTAID010

Provide basic emergency life support

HLTAID011

Provide First Aid

UETDRRF004

Perform rescue from a live LV panel

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Refresher Face to Face contact time of at least 7 Hours 30 Mins
Blended Face to Face contact time of at least 8 Hours
Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 10 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour

Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including CPR and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins (Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions).

Physical fitness – Participants must have the physical capacity to complete a practical demonstration of a simulated LV panel rescue.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

The units have the following recommended renewal periods:

HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation - 12 months

HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support - 36 months

HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid - 36 months

UETDRRF004 - Perform rescue from a live LV panel - 12 months

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

  • Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
  • Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario
  • Perform CPR on an infant
  • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
  • Manage a casualty with asthma
  • Manage a choking casualty
  • Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
  • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed
  • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
  • Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain
  • Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)
  • Inspection and placement of rescue equipment and performing a rescue
  • Low voltage panel rescue

Theory assessment - A written exam consisting of multiple-choice questions. All questions must be completed.
