Course Description
The unit HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy – equips individuals with specialised skills and knowledge to perform advanced resuscitation techniques, including the use of oxygen therapy, in critical emergency situations. This unit is ideal for individuals in high-risk roles, such as emergency responders, lifeguards, workplace first aid officers, and healthcare professionals, who are required to manage severe medical emergencies.
Throughout the course, participants will learn how to assess emergency situations, perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and administer oxygen therapy using a variety of equipment, including bag-valve-mask devices and oxygen cylinders. The training covers managing airway obstructions, performing defibrillation using an automated external defibrillator (AED), and supporting patients suffering from respiratory or cardiac emergencies. Participants will also gain skills in monitoring vital signs, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a seamless handover to emergency medical personnel.
This unit is ideal for those responsible for providing an advanced level of care in situations where oxygen therapy and resuscitation are critical to patient survival.
Upon completing HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy, participants will be able to confidently deliver advanced resuscitation, including administering oxygen therapy, ensuring the best possible outcomes in life-threatening emergencies. This training is essential for anyone working in environments where immediate, advanced care is required.

Entry Requirements
An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:
- An official form of photo identification (e.g., driver’s licence, passport, or student ID).
- Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including CPR and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins*
- To successfully complete this course, students will need to demonstrate the following language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills during training and assessment:
- Learning: Quickly learn and remember detailed steps to help someone who isn’t breathing properly in a serious emergency.
- Reading: Read and follow clear instructions on equipment like oxygen tanks or resuscitation devices.
- Writing: Write a clear report of what happened, what I did, and how the person responded.
- Oral communication: Speak clearly in stressful situations to give or receive important information during an emergency.
- Numeracy: Measure and keep track of things like timing, oxygen flow rates, and how long a person has been unresponsive.
- Digital Literacy: Able to use a mobile phone or basic device to read messages, follow online instructions, complete online forms or access learning resources
This course has a pre-requisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid which much be completed prior to undertaking this unit of competency.
PLEASE NOTE: HLTAID003 Provide first aid is not equivalent to HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and can therefore not be used as a substitute for the pre-requisite requirement.
*Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate, CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions.
Online learning: Students must have basic digital literacy skills to navigate online platforms, complete assessments, and access course materials. Before enrolment, students should assess their ability to engage in online learning. Support is available where required. The online learning program can be found in the student portal. Students must have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and associated assessment tasks.
Delivery mode: Online with face-to-face - The online pre-course learning and theory assessment is expected to take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. These timeframes are estimates. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the online component in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and theory questions.
Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 12 months

Assessment Activities
Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
- Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of bag-valve-masks, oxygen equipment, an AED and placing the casualty into the recovery position)
- Perform CPR on an infant
- Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed and provide oxygen
- Complete an incident report
- Maintain resuscitation equipment
Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
