Participants will learn how to perform advanced CPR, use bag-valve-mask devices, administer oxygen, and utilize an AED. The training also covers managing airway obstructions, monitoring vital signs, and providing care until emergency services arrive. This course is ideal for anyone who needs to be able to deliver advanced care in urgent medical situations.

This course can be delivered via:

  • Face-to-Face: A minimum of 6 hours of contact time.
  • Online with Face-to-Face Assessment: A minimum of 3.5 hours for practical assessment after completing online theory.

Additional Information

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Refresher Face to Face contact time of at least 8 Hours 30 Mins
Blended Face to Face contact time of at least 8 Hours 30 Mins
Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 11 Hours 30 Mins
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour 30 Mins

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.

Online study:  Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

This course has a pre-requisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid which much be completed prior to undertaking this unit of competency. 

PLEASE NOTE: HLTAID003 Provide first aid is not equivalent to HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and can therefore not be used as a substitute for the pre-requisite requirement.

  • Practical Assessment: Includes performing CPR on an adult and infant, using oxygen therapy, managing life-threatening bleeds, and maintaining equipment.
  • Written Assessment: Multiple-choice questions to test theoretical knowledge.

Upon successful completion of this first aid course Dandenong businesses trust, you will receive a nationally recognised certificate. This certification is valid for 12 months, with an industry-recommended renewal period.

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

  • Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of bag-valve-masks, oxygen equipment, an AED and placing the casualty into the recovery position)
  • Perform CPR on an infant
  • Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed and provide oxygen 
  • Complete an incident report
  • Maintain resuscitation equipment

Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
