Course Description

The unit HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely – equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to safely perform manual tasks in the workplace, minimising the risk of injury to themselves and others. This unit is essential for workers across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, aged care, disability services, construction, and warehousing, where manual handling tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling are a regular part of the job.

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to identify and assess risks associated with manual tasks, implement safe manual handling techniques, and use appropriate equipment to reduce physical strain. The training covers the importance of maintaining proper posture, using ergonomic principles, and following workplace health and safety (WHS) guidelines. Participants will also develop skills in recognising unsafe practices, reporting hazards, and applying risk control measures to prevent workplace injuries.

This unit is ideal for workers in roles that require manual handling, as well as supervisors responsible for ensuring a safe work environment.

Upon completing HLTWHS005, participants will be able to conduct manual tasks safely and confidently, helping to prevent injuries and promote a safer workplace.
