Course Description

The WHS & Test and Tag course set, including units UEECD0007 and UEERL0003, is designed to provide individuals with essential skills in workplace health and safety (WHS) and the ability to test and tag electrical equipment. This training is ideal for those working in industries where electrical safety is crucial, such as construction, maintenance, and manufacturing, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and electrical standards.

This WHS & Test and Tag course is ideal for electricians, maintenance workers, and safety officers responsible for managing electrical safety and compliance. Upon completion, participants will have the knowledge and skills to apply WHS practices and test and tag electrical equipment, ensuring a safer and more compliant work environment.

Units Delivered

The following units will be included in your certificate:

UEECD0007

Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace

UEERL0003

Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 15 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 2 Hours

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

    • Visual acuity to inspect equipment and read tags
    • Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills
      • meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including removing an electric shock victim from a simulated live electrical situation
      • Work at heights
      • Demonstrate safe manual handling techniques
      • Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments
  • Reading, writing and numeracy skills to complete and interpret the testing and tagging requirements, Incident Report forms and Risk Assessment documentation of the assessment

Online study options:  The online learning program can be found in the student portal. Students must have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and practical assessment.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

The units have the following recommended renewal periods:

UEECD0007 - Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace - 0 months

UEERL0003 - Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies - 0 months

Please note that enrolment to this course is made with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909. Please refer to the student handbook on our website for all details relating to rights and responsibilities including complaints and appeals.

Performance tasks - The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:

  • Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace on two occasions, including:  
  • Conduct a risk assessment
  • Confirm (safe) isolation of an electrical supply and isolation of potential electrical and non-electrical hazards has been completed by an authorised person
  • Select the most appropriate ladder for the work activity and perform a safety check
  • Perform work at heights
  • Apply correct manual handling techniques
  • Demonstrate safe methods of removing an electric shock victim from a live electrical situation

Follow legally compliant workplace procedures to:

  • Conduct in-service safety testing for two (2) different electrical cords and three (3) items of cord connected equipment

Documentation – The student must compete all documentation according to the required standard:

  • Risk Assessment
  • Incident Report form
  • Equipment Workplace Register form
  • Equipment testing tags

Theory assessment - A written exam consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions to be completed at the end of the training session. Students are able to refer to their Learners resource material.
