Course Description

The Non-Accredited Complex Bowel Care course provides essential training for individuals who assist clients with complex bowel care needs, typically in healthcare settings such as aged care, disability services, or home care. This course is designed for support workers, carers, and healthcare aides who are responsible for managing bowel care routines for clients with medical conditions that affect bowel function.

Throughout the course, participants will learn the skills and knowledge required to support clients with complex bowel care, including the safe and hygienic use of equipment such as suppositories, enemas, or colostomy bags. The training covers how to follow individualised care plans, monitor clients for complications, and maintain their dignity and comfort during the process. Emphasis is placed on infection control, identifying potential issues such as constipation or bowel obstruction, and ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting to healthcare professionals.

This course is ideal for carers and support staff who are involved in providing bowel care to clients with complex needs and wish to ensure safe, effective care without formal accreditation.

Upon completing the Non-Accredited Complex Bowel Care course, participants will have the confidence and practical skills to manage complex bowel care routines, ensuring client well-being, comfort, and compliance with care guidelines. This training is a valuable resource for improving care quality and safety in non-accredited care roles.
